How the pizza value calculator works
Area of each pizza = π × (diameter ÷ 2)².
Cost per square inch = price ÷ area, for each pizza.
The pizza with the lower cost per square inch is the better value.
Worked example: 12-inch pizza at 14, vs 16-inch pizza at 20
- Pizza 1 area = π × 6² ≈ 113.1 sq in. Cost per sq in = 14 ÷ 113.1 ≈ 0.1238.
- Pizza 2 area = π × 8² ≈ 201.1 sq in. Cost per sq in = 20 ÷ 201.1 ≈ 0.0995.
- 0.0995 < 0.1238, so the 16-inch pizza is the better value despite costing more upfront.
